The Cyberspace Law Institute is hosting a conference this Wednesday morning, 9 - 11 AM, at the National Press Club in Washington, on copyright law in cyberspace. In particular, the conference is going to look at some of the issues emerging out of the recent lawsuits initiated by the Church of Scientology, and their implications for the design of copyright rules and liability principles on the Net. Participants include David Johnson (of Lexis Counsel Connect and the C.L.I.), myself, Earl Cooley (of the law firm of Cooley, Manion, counsel to the Church of Scientology), Peter Pitsch (Progress and Freedom Foundation), Mike Remingon (Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition), and the discussion will be moderated by Bill Burrington of American Online. It should make for an interesting morning. The public is welcome -- if you need more info you can contact me at dpostn00[_at_]counsel.com. I'll be sure to report back to the list with my own version of the events.
