It is "archival" in the sense that it is being retained in case the transmission is unsuccessful; then, once success has been confirmed, the archival copy is destroyed.
If we are still in the business of putting square pegs into round holes (such is the stuff of which much computer copyright law is made), then some call "crazy" what others call "genius".
