Here's an interesting Bettmann note -- they don't have legal copyright to everything in their collection. During the UPI era, lots of work that UPI didn't own rights to ended up getting shipped to Bettmann and there are some very unhappy photographers (including my spouse, for example) at the moment. Digitized or not, is clear ownership to original images an issue? And not just for Bettmann, but for any of the many sets of creative work that may have been a little, er, sloppy?
