Lest we shed too many tears for such distant relatives who would prefer to "earn" their money "the old fashioned way," we ought to periodically remind ourselves why the framers gave Congress the power to grant copyrights and patents for "a limited time," i.e. to encourage authors and inventors to create, but for the benefit of the public, not for the near-permanent monopoly of the author or inventor.
