Celebrity Gifs

Here is an issue I have been pondering after hearing about celebrity x-rated gifs on the internet. For example, what action could Cindy Crawford take if a photograph of her is digitally altered or combined with a nude photograph of another women so that it appears to be Cindy's nude body. I imagine rights of privacy and or publicity are implicated and wonder if the online service would be liable in any way. I remember an ad campaign some years back where John McEnroe's head was placed on anothers body and the company stopped running the ad after this was revealed. In that situation, McEnroe had allowed the use of his face but in the hypothetical case of Ms. Crawford, no permission would have been granted.
