John Lederer's response to Mark Wing is well taken. In Canada we have seen a similar shift developing in our legislation ever since the issuing of the so-called "Charter of Rights" white paper by the previous Conservative Government of the day. The current Bill C-32 (Phase II of the long-awaited amendments) reflects this trend as well. It seems that the "droit d'auteur" underpinnings are taking over from those espoused in centuries of British copyright legislation and case law. I do not welcome this change.
