RE: CANADA'S BILL C-32 The House of Commons Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage is almost finished their brief hearings on what is probably the most complex piece of intellectual property legislation in Canadian history.
Hearings are set to conclude on or about November 7, 1996, about one month after they began (with a week off in this period). About one third of those wishing to appear before the Committee have been denied the opportunity to do so. The proceedings as posted on the Net are at least three weeks behind. In the Age of the Internet, one might have hoped for more. Under all the circumstances, it would be surprising if the Committee were to recommend anything other than minor "technical" changes to the Bill.
