Hello -
Up until now I have just been a lurker, so I apologize if I did this wrong.
An interesting issue just came up at work regarding trademarks, which isn't really my field. I deal primarily with permission and copyright issues.
Here is the situation: a publishing company is coming up with a new electronic product which uses "Windows" as opposed to "Dos". They would like to use "Windows" in the product name. The only problem is that Microsoft currently owns the trademark on "Windows". Can the publishing company combine their name with Windows without running into legal difficulties with Microsoft?
I know this isn't exactly a copyright issue, but any thoughts you might have would be appreciated.
Thanks -
Christine
