Canadian Copyright Act amended

Bill C-32, an act to amend the Canadian Copyright Act, passed third reading in the Senate on April 24, 1997 and received royal assent on April 25, 1997. Parliament was dissolved on April 27, 1997 and a general federal election is now underway in Canada. The timing of the dissolution of parliament suggests the importance to the incumbent Liberals of the passage of the so-called Phase Two of copyright reform. Phase Two was developed and lobbied for over a nine-year period.
