Dear CNI-COPYRIGHT readers,
I don't do this too often, but....
This is just a friendly reminder that the CNI-COPYRIGHT list is designed for discussions related to copyright and intellectual property law, the economic ramifications thereof, electronic publishing, etc.
Some of the postings on the "Microsoft's OS competitors" thread are starting to run afield. The "old guard" knows that very few topics are as likely to escalate out of control on a list as discussions of operating systems and religion. To date, I've rejected very few postings on the thread -- only a few of the early and *obviously* inflammatory/snide remarks regarding the relative merits of MS-DOS vs. Windows vs. MacOS vs. Linux vs. FooBarOS, Inc.
Anyway, I try really hard to keep this list down to 20 or fewer postings (of merit) per day, and judging from the comments I receive I know many of you appreciate the high signal to low noise ratio on this list. Therefore, I'm calling for a close on the operating system discussion, unless you have really interesting and pertinent things to say which relate to copyright and operating systems. B^)
