this is worth a nexis search, but the short story of the Salinger site, as I recall from visiting the site, is that the Salinger lawyers asked the owner to shut it down and he, being a fan, complied. No suit, just letters. The interesting thing about the site, again based on my memory of having visited, was that you were given a random Salinger quote at each visit. A very cute trick, but taking Salinger's work out of context may have been what really pissed him off.
