I publish a quarterly journal of fiction & criticism. Our latest issue, #24, is perfect-bound A5 (approx 1/2 quarto), 124 pages with a colour cover and internal artwork for each story. Admittedly this is a hobby, a "semi-professional" publishing venture, but we only charge A$7 a copy, including postage, and we print only 300 copies.
Perhaps their overheads are too high.
