For a summary of the copyright law and the and the practical level of protection in Vietnam, also see the Vietnam survey in the IIPA's Special 301 submission at www.iipa.com. On June 27, 1997, The U.S. and Vietnam signed a bilateral copyright agreement (agreed to on April 16, 1997) which provided a point of attachment for the protection of U.S. works and sound recordings in Vietnam. No other country's works or sound recordings are protected in Vietnam unless first published there.
