(Copyright iheres at the moment that the work is fixed in a tangible medium of expression. You don't have to do anything to "coypright" it. You might want to spend the few dollars needed to deposit the work with the copyright office -- there are some advantages to doing so, and it is extremely simple and inexpensive -- but you aren't required to do so.)
