TEMPLE IP LAW SOCIETY
TO HOST CYBERLAW SYMPOSIUM
On Wednesday April 8, the Temple University Law School Intellectual
Property Law Society (IPLS) will host the 1998 Cyberlaw Symposium at
Shusterman Hall, Temple University Main Campus.
The Society (formerly known as the Technology Law Society) plans to follow the success of last year's "Intellectual Property in the Year 2000" conference with a discussion of emerging legal issues related to the Internet. "Because Temple has one of the top Cyberlaw programs in the country, we felt that an event devoted solely to this area of law was appropriate," said Richard Rodgers '99, symposium coordinator and vice-president of the IPLS.
Featured topics of this year's symposium include: Anonymity and Pseudonymity in Cyberspace, Filtration Software and First Amendment Implications, Digital Signature and Authentication Technologies, Critical Infrastructure Protection and Vulnerability from Criminal Attack Through Cybermedia, and Computer Crime and Security in Cyberspace.
This year's symposium will feature many nationally-renown experts. Confirmed speakers include: Amy Boss, Professor of Law at Temple; David Post, Associate Professor of Law at Temple and the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Cyberspace Law Institute (http://www.cli.org/); David Goldstone, United States Department of Justice Computer Crimes Division; David Sobel, Electronic Privacy Information Center (http://www.epic.org/); and Irwin M. Pikus, Commissioner of the President's Commission on Critical Infrastructure Protection.
The symposium will begin at 10 A.M. with a luncheon at noon and will conclude at 5 P.M. with a cocktail reception. A total of 5 Pennsylvania MCLE credits will be offered. The cost of the conference is $80 per person, $45 for Temple Law Alumni Association members, and $15 for students. To register or receive further information, please call Richard Rodgers at (215) 204-8956 or e-mail rrodgers[_at_]astro.temple.edu. You may also register online at the IPLS website at
