At Digital Equipment, the early chips that were the VAX cpu chips, had printed in the margins of the top level mask the words "when you care to steal the very best" writen in russion, in cryllic. DEC anticipated that the chips were being reverse engineered in Russia. Just an interesting side light. I was a senior manager at the Digital Equipment plant that made chips for Digital, but am now an attorney.
