I note that Congress is forbidden by the Constitution from establishing titles of nobility to reward its favorites. The copyright extension bill could be interpreted as an attempt to get around this prohibition by establishing hereditary monopolies. I think that the term extension violates the spirit of the "no title of nobility" clause as well as violating the spirit of the "limited times" clause.
And it's positively funny to see the venerable medieval "three lives" lease term trying to re-assert itself in this new context.
