Recently our local newspaper ran a blurb about our county property appraiser planning to photograph every home in the county and publish same on his web site along with all the pertinent data he has on there now.
I remember reading once about a poster being shown in a movie w/o permission and the copyright holder getting big bucks for the infringement. If a homeowner displays sculptural or other works of art on their front lawn on on their home and it is photographed and subsequently displayed/published by the property appraiser is there potential for a lawsuit by the aggrieved copyright holder? Or is gvt. immune from infringement of this type? Any cases on-point either way?
Thanks....
