You can't get copyright protection for the name of a band. If the band already has a name, that name is a trademark. If you are using it, or have a bona fide intent to use it, in interstate commerce (i.e., in more than one state), you are entitled to register your mark in the US Trademark Office. First you will want to engage a qualified trademark attorney. Then you will want your attorney to conduct and review a trademark search to make sure that your mark isn't already registered or used by some other organization in a way that could make your mark cause confusion. If your mark is available for the kind of services you perform, the attorney will brief you on the costs and will file an application for you if you wish.
