Architectural copyright

Hello,

I found this address on the web while researching architectural copyright infringement. Can you answer the following question: My wife and I saw a developer's floor plan and like the basic plan, but we want to make changes to it. How much in the way of (percentage) changes do we have to make to that floor plan so as not to infringe on copyright and what is considered a percentage? We have talked to attorneys and architects and no one seems to have a concrete answer. We have been told percentages of from 15 to 40, but no one can tell us what constitutes a 5%, 10% etc. change.

Any information you could share regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
