Your inquiry does not say whether you have a law degree - but, whether you do or not, the annual copyright basics course called "Copyright & Trademark Law for the Nonspecialist," given by the Practising Law Institute (800-260-4754), is quite good. I take it every couple of years as a refresher. It covers trademark, too - which I rarely encounter but find very interesting. Their courses are usually (inconveniently for me) offered in New York and San Francisco, but I've seen this course by video hook-up locally each year. I've been doing permissions work for about 7 years and always find this course enlightening - they update it each year. Let me know if I can ever be of help to you - I like "linking" to others who do this work.
