For those of you who asked for more information on the chronicle article on obtaining a contributor's "express approval" before granting reprint permission to the work as it is copyrighted under the copyright of the book in which it appears, I have a copy of it. I can fax it to anyone who is interested. Unfortunately, you still won't have access to the additional information that appears on the chronicle webpage but the actual article does provide certain details on the case. Let me know if you would like this faxed to you. BTW, my question is whether assignment of copyright [including the right to grant reprint and photocopy permission] to an individual article by way of a contributor release and copyright assignment agreement signifies the "express approval" the article describes. I think it does but would like to know if anyone with knowledge of the article and/or ruling disagrees?
