I found the cases very insightful. The second circuit went back to copyright basics to reject West Law's claims for copyright protection over the non-editorial portions of its case law books. The first set of decisions concern West's claims to parallel citations, case titles, attorney names, and the like, while the second concern West's claims for its star pagination system.
