But Walt Disney's animated versions are not. Under the copyright law at the time they were made (a fixed term of 56 years), they should've gone public domain in the early 1980s. Walt Disney was happy to use public domain materials to make these films, but now his corporation is not willing to let these films revert to the public domain, even after getting -two- extra 20 year terms to profit from them.
