Hello all... I'm a lurker on this list and have gotten some pretty good advice from doing so. :o)

Thanks much.

Finally found one thing I might be able to help on - the searching of LOC for copyright status.

I recently was looking for copyright records on an 1890 publication and came across this Database search at LOC's website. I had been there a few months ago and it was working yet -- still only had the telnet access.

Here are the URLs :

Database Availability:

( 4:35 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. Mon.-Fri.)
( 4:35 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sat.)
(11:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sun.)

All times USA Eastern

Library of Congress Advanced Word Search Form http://lcweb.loc.gov/cgi-bin/zgate?ACTION=INIT&FORM_HOST_PORT=/prod/www/data/z3950/loc.html,ibm2.loc.gov,2210

For title and personal name searching only, use http://lcweb.loc.gov/cgi-bin/zgate?ACTION=INIT&FORM_HOST_PORT=/prod/www/data/z3950/loc2.html,ibm2.loc.gov,2210

For derived-key searching, use (author or title are known) http://lcweb.loc.gov/cgi-bin/zgate?ACTION=INIT&FORM_HOST_PORT=/prod/www/data/z3950/loc3.html,ibm2.loc.gov,2210

I hope this helps someone - would be nice to pay back just a bit of some of the help everyone has given me - even if they didn't intend too.

Thanks again,

Alesia Stein
