Is this within fair use?

I am a school media specialist. My assistant principal just called to ask if I could video some still shots (from a book or magazine) of Muhammed Ali and play an excerpt from the song When We Were Kings. There will be three questions in a little contest afterwards - in celebration of black history month. I'm think of using AVId Cinema to do the video and then record a short excerpt of the song to go along with it. We would be putting it over the video distribution system in our school one morning after announcements.

Would it be "more" legal if we did this manually - just hold the pictures up in front of the camera and play the tape in the background and then she asks the questions afterwards?

Hope some of you can help me.
