It may be of interest to the list that a Canadian judge has ruled in favour of a class action suit (rare in Canadian jurisprudence) going ahead in the area of independent writers preventing Canadian newspaper and periodical publishers from using their works in electronic data bases, to which they sell public access but for which use they have no authorization and provide no compensation to the authors.
