"Dealing with False Internet Rumors: A Corporate Primer"

Bell, Senior Litigation Counsel with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, discussing the alternatives that are available to companies that find themselves the subject of false rumors on the Internet, will discuss what other companies have been doing in such circumstances and will analyze the pros and cons of the various alternatives.

Your company has just discovered that it is the subject of what appears to be a concerted effort to drive down its stock price through the posting of false rumors about the company and its senior management on financial message boards or in chat rooms devoted to discussions about the company and its stock. What do you do now? Have other companies experienced this situation? What have other companies done about it? What are all the alternatives available to you and your company? What are the pros and cons of each such alternative. This presentation will answer these and other such questions.
