Yeah.

And "decopyright" and public domain are not synonymous.

A work not protected by copyright could still be protected by something else. For examples:

• as a secret (if not readily available), or
• by trademark (if associated with a well known publisher of public domain works who seeks by trademark to limit where his works are distributed, although removing the trademark and publishing the work itself could be okay)
• laws relating to publicity (if the work depicts a protectable persona, and is used on a product)
• privacy (any photograph of a living person used on a commerical product).

The above examples don't list all elements, etc., my point being only that that PD does NOT = "decopyright".
