GM will sue you for dilution. And it's not "how long" you use the name, it's whether you use it or not and how descriptive the name of the band is. An affidavit alleging use and a sufficiently creative band name is enough.

In otherwords, one needs to ask what the relationship between the mark and the service is. ("The Band" is not as easily protectable as "Nirvana".) The latter does not in and of itself evoke a relationship with music.

On another point, GM could sue you for dilution. And federal trademark rights are national in scope.

This is not advice, establishes no relationship, response to gen. query, etc, have a nice day.

Cheers.

Chris
