You might want to try the TMEP (Trademark Manual of Examining Procedure.) It's a federal government publication, hence freely copyable, and is the manual used by trademark examiners at the PTO. (It's always good to have handy the guide by which your application will be judged.)

It's available from the Government Printing Office, and is probably also available from the PTO (probably even downloadable from their website at http://www.uspto.gov/ )
