Can someone re-draw a painting and use their drawing in published material such as an advertising flier without infringing copyright? The drawing would not be an exact replica, just similar. Should they get permission first or can they just use it? The original painting is probably still under copyright.
This is for the UK but any thoughts would be appreciated.
