For the same reason, I guess, that you should be prohibited from opening a fast food restaurant called McDonald's if your name is "McDonald." It'll cause confusion on the part of the public, and perhaps tarnishment to the "other" McDonald's good name and reputation; at the very least, it puts their reputation, effectively, in your hands.
